This is a unique leadership opportunity for an experienced tax professional seeking a highly visible role with executive exposure, international operations, and a clear path for long-term growth.
With operations spanning multiple regions worldwide, this organization is seeking a hands-on tax leader who can oversee corporate tax compliance, tax provision activities, and strategic tax initiatives while partnering closely with executive leadership.
**While this position operates in a primarily remote capacity, candidates must reside in the Houston area to support occasional onsite meetings and collaboration with executive leadership.**
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead all aspects of the company's corporate tax function, including U.S. federal, international, and multistate income tax compliance for a complex global organization.
  • Oversee the preparation, review, and filing of corporate income tax returns, including Form 1120 filings, foreign reporting requirements, and jurisdictional tax compliance obligations.
  • Direct the quarterly and annual tax provision process, including ASC 740 reporting, deferred tax calculations, book-to-tax differences, uncertain tax positions, and income tax disclosures.
  • Partner closely with Finance and Accounting leadership to ensure accurate tax accounting, reporting, and forecasting activities that impact the income statement and balance sheet.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership by providing technical tax guidance, evaluating risks and opportunities, and communicating tax matters to senior stakeholders, including the CFO and executive team.
  • Manage and develop a geographically dispersed team, including U.S. and international staff, while coordinating the efforts of external consulting and advisory partners.
  • Drive tax research and planning initiatives related to corporate transactions, business operations, organizational changes, and evolving tax legislation.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Accounting, FP&A, Treasury, Legal, and Operations teams to support strategic business objectives and ensure tax implications are properly evaluated.
  • Review complex tax positions and technical accounting matters, providing recommendations to leadership regarding compliance, risk mitigation, and process improvements.
  • Enhance tax department efficiency by identifying opportunities to streamline processes, strengthen internal controls, improve documentation, and leverage technology solutions.
  • Support audits and examinations by federal, state, and international taxing authorities, managing information requests and defending tax positions as needed.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments that may impact the business and proactively advise leadership on potential effects and planning opportunities.
  • Maintain strong relationships with external advisors while ensuring the organization receives high-quality technical support and remains compliant across all jurisdictions.
  • Contribute to the long-term evolution of the tax function, with the opportunity to assume broader leadership responsibilities and play a key role in the future direction of the department.
Qualifications
