Staff Accountant (Contract-to-Hire)Portland, OR (Remote/Hybrid During Training) | 20-40 Hours per Week | $31-$36/Hour DOE
LHH is partnering with a confidential client in the design and marketing industry to identify a Staff Accountant for a contract-to-hire opportunity. This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative accounting team led by a supportive Accounting Manager who is driving process improvements and strengthening the accounting function.
The ideal candidate enjoys rolling up their sleeves, cleaning up processes, improving documentation, and helping create a scalable accounting environment. This role offers flexibility, meaningful project work, and the potential for long-term employment.
What You'll Do- Manage accounts payable processing using Ramp
- Review and reconcile corporate credit card transactions (300-500+ transactions per month)
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations
- Assist with month-end close activities, including journal entries
- Calculate fixed asset amortization in Sage Intacct
- Support cash management and banking activities
- Document accounting processes and help establish SOPs and internal controls
- Improve workflows, checklists, and approval processes
- Partner with leadership on accounting cleanup and process improvement initiatives
- Potentially expand into additional general ledger responsibilities, including:
- Balance sheet reconciliations
- P&L reviews
- Variance analysis
- Additional journal entries
Qualifications- Experience with:
- Accounts Payable
- Credit card reconciliations
- Bank reconciliations
- Month-end close activities
- Strong accounting foundation with the ability to investigate and resolve reconciliation issues
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities in a remote environment
- Comfortable supporting process improvement and documentation efforts
- Availability during Pacific Time business hours for meetings and collaboration
Preferred Qualifications- Experience leading accounting cleanup projects or working in a consulting capacity
- Balance sheet reconciliation experience
- Experience in project-based industries such as architecture, construction, engineering, design, marketing, or professional services
- Experience with Sage Intacct, NetSuite, or Ramp
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
