About the Role

Corporate Payroll Manager
Location: Greater San Diego Area (onsite)
Compensation: Up to $150K+ DOE + bonus potential
A growing, multi-entity organization is seeking an experienced payroll leader to oversee and modernize enterprise-wide payroll operations. This newly expanded role will play a critical part in driving process improvements, supporting organizational growth initiatives, and establishing scalable payroll practices across multiple business units.
This opportunity is ideal for a payroll professional who enjoys transformation, process optimization, and partnering with executive leadership to build efficient and compliant payroll operations.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead payroll operations across multiple business units and legal entities
  • Drive payroll process improvement and standardization initiatives
  • Develop policies, procedures, and operational documentation
  • Support payroll-related activities associated with company growth initiatives and business integrations
  • Evaluate and optimize payroll systems and workflows
  • Identify compliance risks and implement best practices
  • Partner cross-functionally with HR, Finance, Operations, and executive leadership
  • Lead change management efforts and promote adoption of standardized processes
  • Help create scalable payroll infrastructure to support future growth
Qualifications
  • 7+ years of progressive payroll leadership experience
  • Experience overseeing complex, multi-entity payroll environments
  • Track record of payroll systems implementation, optimization, or transformation
  • Strong process improvement, workflow design, and documentation experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively with senior executives and operational leaders
  • Experience managing organizational change and influencing stakeholders across multiple teams
Preferred Background
  • Experience in project-based, field-based, or decentralized workforce environments
  • Exposure to certified payroll and prevailing wage requirements
  • Experience supporting mergers, acquisitions, integrations, or business consolidations
  • Background centralizing payroll functions across multiple operating units
