Work Arrangement: Temporary, Part-Time Assignment; On-site, 4 days per week
Compensation: $35.00 - $40.00 per hour
A well-established educational institution is seeking a
Temporary Part-Time Audit Support Professional to assist with its annual financial statement audit. This position offers an opportunity to work closely with accounting staff and external auditors while supporting critical audit and financial reporting functions.
Responsibilities- Assist with the preparation of audit schedules, account reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
- Respond to auditor requests and provide timely, accurate financial information.
- Review financial records for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established procedures.
- Organize and maintain audit workpapers and supporting documentation.
- Support month-end and year-end accounting activities as needed.
- Assist with various accounting and audit-related projects throughout the engagement.
QualificationsAccounting & Audit Experience- Previous experience supporting or participating in external financial statement audits.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting processes.
- Experience preparing reconciliations, audit schedules, and supporting documentation.
- Ability to analyze financial information and identify discrepancies.
Technical Skills- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data analysis, reconciliations, and schedule preparation.
- Experience working with accounting systems and financial reporting tools.
- Ability to quickly learn and navigate new financial and reporting systems.
Attention to Detail & Organization- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet audit deadlines.
- Experience maintaining thorough documentation and adhering to established accounting procedures.
Communication & Collaboration- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with accounting staff, auditors, and cross-functional departments.
- Comfortable working independently while also contributing as part of a team.
- Capable of following up on outstanding items and communicating issues professionally.
Professional Qualities- Reliable, dependable, and committed to meeting project timelines.
- Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize work with minimal supervision.
- Flexible and willing to assist with a variety of accounting and audit-related tasks.
- Maintains strict confidentiality when handling sensitive financial information.
Preferred Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
- Experience with higher education, nonprofit, governmental, or fund accounting environments is a plus.
- Knowledge of GASB standards, grant accounting, or fixed asset accounting is highly desirable.
- Prior experience working directly with external audit firms is preferred.
