About the Role

Administrative Assistant | Overland Park, KS Contract | $25-27ph. LHH is partnering with a company within city governance, who is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented administrative professional to support official board, commission, and council proceedings. This role serves as a key resource in maintaining accurate public records by documenting meetings, producing official summaries, and preserving historical records. The ideal candidate has strong administrative experience, exceptional written communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines while handling sensitive and highly detailed information. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide administrative support for a variety of municipal boards, committees, and public meetings.
  • Create official written summaries and records of discussions, motions, and decisions made during meetings.
  • Monitor meeting proceedings and document voting outcomes as required.
  • Review audio recordings and convert discussions into concise, accurate written documentation.
  • Organize, maintain, and archive public meeting records in accordance with retention requirements.
  • Coordinate meeting logistics, including preparing conference rooms and ensuring technology is ready for use.
  • Proofread and edit documentation to ensure accuracy, consistency, and professional presentation.
  • Collaborate with department leadership to finalize records prior to publication and approval.
  • Assist with updating and organizing historical records and previously unfinished documentation projects.
  • Utilize specialized software and Microsoft Office tools to review meeting content and prepare documentation.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting strict deadlines.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Previous experience in administrative support, legal administration, records management, or a related professional office environment.
  • Strong written communication, editing, and proofreading abilities.
  • Excellent listening skills and the ability to accurately interpret verbal discussions.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize workloads effectively.
  • Availability to attend occasional evening meetings as needed.
  • Experience preparing official meeting summaries, notes, or public records.
  • Background supporting government organizations, boards, commissions, legal teams, or executive leadership.
  • Experience reviewing audio recordings and producing written documentation.
  • Familiarity with records retention practices and document management systems.
Pay Details: $25.00 to $26.00 per hour
