About the Role

Accounts Payable Specialist
Our client, an established consumer products organization, is seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist to join its accounting team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a collaborative environment, taking ownership of responsibilities, and supporting a high-volume accounts payable function.
Location: Portland, OR Work Schedule: Hybrid (2 days per week in office; additional in-office training and onboarding initially) Employment Type: Direct Hire Compensation: $52,000 to $62,000 annually

Position Overview
The Accounts Payable Specialist will be responsible for processing invoices, managing weekly payment cycles, maintaining purchase order records, and supporting the accounting team with accurate and timely accounts payable activities. This role is ideal for an organized professional who enjoys working in a team-oriented environment and proactively taking ownership of tasks.
Key Responsibilities
  • Process and review weekly accounts payable invoices.
  • Prepare weekly payment batches and ensure timely vendor payments.
  • Enter, maintain, and track purchase orders for inventory and services.
  • Verify invoice accuracy and ensure proper approvals are obtained.
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
  • Maintain accurate accounts payable records and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with month-end close activities related to accounts payable.
  • Respond to vendor inquiries and maintain positive vendor relationships.
  • Support process improvements and other accounting projects as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of one year of accounts payable processing experience.
  • Experience working with ERP systems preferred.
  • Experience with SAP and Concur strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Work Environment
  • Hybrid schedule with an initial period of increased in-office presence for training and onboarding.
  • Open office environment.
  • Standard business hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
