About the Role

IP Docketing Specialist (Patent Prosecution)
Confidential Law Firm | Hybrid/Remote Direct Hire | California: $27-$55/hr | Illinois: $29-$59/hr
LHH is recruiting on behalf of a confidential law firm seeking an IP Docketing Specialist to support a sophisticated patent prosecution practice. This role is responsible for managing U.S. and foreign patent prosecution deadlines, maintaining docket records, and supporting attorneys and legal professionals in a fast-paced intellectual property environment.
Responsibilities
  • Review patent-related correspondence, filings, and communications to identify and calculate critical deadlines.
  • Maintain and update patent prosecution dockets and calendaring systems.
  • Monitor daily docket activity and follow up on upcoming deadlines.
  • Prepare docket reports for attorneys and legal staff.
  • Update docket records based on attorney instructions and client communications.
  • Assist with quality control and accuracy of docket entries.
  • Review USPTO filing receipts and related documentation.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years of U.S. and/or foreign patent prosecution docketing experience.
  • Strong knowledge of USPTO procedures and patent prosecution practices.
  • Experience with patent docketing systems such as CPI, Inprotech, Foundation IP, or similar platforms.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple deadlines with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Stable employment history preferred.

Pay Transparency Notice: California compensation range is $27-$55 per hour. Illinois compensation range is $29-$59 per hour. Actual compensation will depend on experience, qualifications, skills, and location.
