Position Summary
UME Preparatory Academy is seeking certified elementary teachers (Grades K 3) to join our candidate pool for current and future openings. Selected candidates will provide high-quality instruction aligned to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), fostering foundational skills in literacy, mathematics, and critical thinking while supporting the academic and social development of young learners.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Deliver daily instruction aligned to TEKS for Grades K 3
Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that support early literacy, numeracy, and foundational academic skills
Create a positive, structured, and nurturing classroom environment
Utilize a variety of instructional strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners
Assess student progress regularly and adjust instruction based on data
Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and performance in Skyward
Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress and needs
Collaborate with colleagues, instructional staff, and campus leadership
Participate in professional development, PLCs, and school-wide initiatives
Support the mission, vision, and values of UME Preparatory Academy
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
Valid Texas Teaching Certification for Elementary (Core Subjects EC 6) or appropriate certification for Grades K 3 in compliance with Texas Education Agency (TEA) requirements
Demonstrated knowledge of TEKS for elementary instruction (Grades K 3)
Strong classroom management and organizational skills
Preferred
Experience teaching in Grades K 3
Strong background in early literacy and guided reading instruction
Experience with differentiated instruction and small group learning
Familiarity with data-driven instruction and intervention strategies
Skills and Competencies
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to build relationships with students, families, and staff
Effective classroom management and instructional planning
Ability to use student data to inform instruction
Proficiency in instructional technology and student information systems
Working Conditions
Classroom environment with frequent standing, walking, and interaction with students
Ability to support the developmental and behavioral needs of young learners
Occasional after-school duties, meetings, and events
Compensation
Salary is based on experience and aligned with the UME Preparatory Academy pay scale.
