About the Role

Accounting Manager
Our client, a growing construction company in the Charlotte area, is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to lead day-to-day accounting operations and support the financial success of ongoing construction projects. This position will oversee month-end close, financial reporting, job cost accounting, budgeting, and process improvements while partnering closely with project managers and company leadership.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on accounting professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and wants to play a key role in supporting business growth.
Responsibilities
· Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process
· Prepare and review monthly financial statements and management reports
· Oversee general ledger activity, journal entries, account reconciliations, and accruals
· Monitor and analyze project costs, budgets, committed costs, and profitability
· Review and maintain Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules
· Lead job costing activities and ensure accurate project accounting
· Assist with forecasting, budgeting, and cash flow management
· Review construction contracts, change orders, subcontractor agreements, and billing activity
· Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions
· Support external audits, tax filings, and lender reporting requirements
· Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and company accounting policies
· Partner with project managers and operational leaders to provide financial analysis and project performance insights
· Develop and improve accounting processes, procedures, and reporting capabilities
· Supervise and mentor accounting staff
Qualifications
· Prior construction industry experience required
· Strong understanding of job costing, percentage-of-completion accounting, and WIP reporting
· Experience preparing financial statements and managing month-end close
· Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred
· Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Compensation & Schedule:
· Onsite; Monday - Friday; flexible hours
· $110,000 - $120,000 with a discretionary bonus
Pay Details: $110,000.00 to $120,000.00 per year
