LHH is partnering with a well-established San Diego organization seeking an
Accounts Payable Supervisor to lead a team of AP Specialists in a high-volume accounting environment.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys developing a team, improving processes, and staying involved in daily accounting operations. The ideal candidate will bring strong accounts payable experience along with a solid understanding of reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close.
Responsibilities- Lead, train, and support a team of Accounts Payable Specialists.
- Oversee high-volume invoice processing and payment activity.
- Review account coding, approvals, supporting documentation, and payment accuracy.
- Manage team workflow and ensure deadlines are consistently met.
- Research and resolve invoice, vendor, payment, and general ledger discrepancies.
- Prepare and review account reconciliations and journal entries.
- Support accruals and other AP-related month-end close activities.
- Maintain effective accounting controls and identify opportunities to improve processes.
- Partner with internal departments to resolve questions and outstanding items.
- Assist with audit requests and provide backup support during peak periods.
- Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and performance management for the AP team.
Qualifications- Three or more years of progressive accounting experience, including experience as a supervisor, team lead, or senior-level contributor.
- Experience leading an accounts payable or accounting team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong knowledge of high-volume AP, account reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and general ledger accounting.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP or accounting systems.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to balance hands-on accounting responsibilities with team leadership.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered.

Pay Details: $70,000.00 to $79,000.00 per year
