Appellate Legal Secretary
Austin, TX | Direct Hire | $70,000 - $90,000+ DOE
LHH Legal is partnering with a highly respected law firm in Austin to identify an experienced Appellate Legal Secretary to support a busy and sophisticated appellate practice. This is a direct hire opportunity offering long-term career stability, exposure to complex appellate matters, and the chance to join a collaborative, high-performing legal team.
We are seeking a detail-oriented legal professional with strong experience supporting appellate attorneys, exceptional document production skills, and a thorough understanding of Texas and Federal Appellate Court procedures.
Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare, proofread, and revise appellate briefs, pleadings, motions, and other complex legal documents
  • Create and format Tables of Contents and Tables of Authorities
  • Manage advanced document formatting, conversions, and troubleshooting in Microsoft Word
  • File documents electronically with Texas and Federal appellate courts
  • Track court deadlines and ensure compliance with filing requirements and court rules
  • Manage attorney calendars, scheduling, and case-related deadlines
  • Organize, maintain, and process case files and legal records
  • Coordinate with attorneys and legal staff to ensure timely completion of filings and projects
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of appellate legal secretary experience
  • Strong knowledge of Texas and Federal Appellate Court procedures and filing requirements
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, including Styles, TOC, and TOA creation
  • Experience with iManage is a plus
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and multitasking skills
  • Proactive, team-oriented approach with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
