About the Role
Engineering Students Wanted For Wasoqonatl Transmission Line Project
Valard Construction is expanding our Student (Co-op / Internship) program, and we are currently seeking Engineering Students to join our Wasoqonatl Transmission Line project on a 4-month term (from September - December2026).
These positions work closely with Project Managers, Construction Managers, and cross-functional stakeholders to support the planning, coordination, and execution of a safe, efficient, and high-quality Transmission Line project. The roles will provide valuable experience in construction, project management, and administrative support within a fast-paced EPC environment. Please Note: We have 2 positions, 1 will be office based in Edmonton, AB working Monday - Friday; 40 hours / week and 1 will be site based in Amherst, NS working 6 days on / 1 days off with an overall shift of 28 days on site with 14 days off. Travel to site, accommodations and LOA will be provided.
Duties and Responsibilities
Support project engineering activities including material and construction specifications, design packages, material take-offs, procurement requisitions, and change orders
Track material deliveries, purchase orders, packing slips, inventory, and documentation; coordinate expense submissions and provide technical support to field teams
Assist with project coordination including scheduling tasks, milestones, and deadlines; track and report project progress through updates, presentations, and reporting tools
Facilitate communication between field staff, design engineers, clients, and stakeholders; review and interpret construction drawings and project documents to support execution
Support estimating activities including quantity take-offs, pricing, validation of outsourced estimates, and preparation of written bid deliverables such as assumptions and execution plans
Review and incorporate historical cost data into Valard's cost model; attend project planning sessions and assist with execution sequencing and logistics
Collect field data for KPI tracking including access and foundation metrics; complete daily reporting, POD submissions, and meeting minutes
Maintain and update GIS mapping, MBOS manuals, and document control systems
Process LEMs and accruals; support ordering and procurement activities as required
