Job Details

Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a skilled Long Term Care Director of Nursing for a 12-week travel assignment in Miles City, MT. Required Qualifications:

  • One year of recent experience as a Director of Nursing
  • Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
  • Current BLS (AHA/ARC) or CPR certification

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ACLS Certification
  • Other certifications may be required for this position

Summary:

The Director of Nursing (DON) in a long-term care (LTC) facility is responsible for leading the nursing team and ensuring residents receive high-quality, compassionate care that meets both regulatory and facility standards. They oversee daily operations, develop policies, monitor patient outcomes, and work closely with staff and administration to continuously improve resident care and overall facility performance.

Essential Work Functions:

  • Provide leadership and support to the nursing team, ensuring residents receive high-quality, compassionate care
  • Develop, implement, and maintain nursing policies and procedures to meet federal, state, and facility regulations
  • Train, supervise, and mentor nursing staff, fostering a positive and efficient work environment
  • Track resident care outcomes and implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance safety and well-being
  • Ensure the facility stays compliant with regulatory requirements (e.g., CMS, state health departments) through audits, inspections, and corrective action plans
  • Oversee medication management and nursing interventions following best practices and facility protocols
  • Work closely with physicians, administrators, and care teams to provide well-coordinated, comprehensive resident care
  • Manage the nursing department budget, including staffing levels, supply costs, and resource planning
  • Promptly Address concerns from residents and their families helping to facility a positive care experience
  • Oversee infection control and safety efforts, ensuring a clean, secure, and compliant environment for residents and staff
  • Take on other responsibilities as needed to support the facility’s mission and goals
  • Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice
  • Adhere to facility safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards

Required Essential Skills:

  • Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skills
  • The ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language
  • Ability to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skills
  • Physical Abilities - Must be able to remain in a stationary position, move about, move equipment (50-100lbs), push, pull, and bend
  • Interpersonal Skills - Must be able to work effectively with a variety of personnel (professional and ancillary) to present a positive attitude and professionalism
  • Technical/Motor Skills - Must have the ability to grasp, perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and move about when assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment
  • Mental Requirements - Must be able to cope with frequent contact with the general public and customers while meeting deadlines under pressure. Must be able to work under close supervision occasionally, as well as working without assistance from other personnel. Must be able to contend with irregular activity schedules occasionally and continuous concentration to detail
  • Sensory - Must possess visual acuity and ability to effectively communicate
