Join Southside Virginia Community College in preparing the next generation of business leaders through BUS 200: Principles of Management. This course teaches management and the core management functions of planning, organizing, leading, and controlling. The successful candidate must be committed to SVCC's mission to provide high-quality education to the Southside Virginia community. Applications will be received, reviewed, and considered continuously until needed positions are filled.

Course Content & Specific Duties:

  • Teach the fundamental management functions: planning, organizing, leading, and controlling.
  • Focus on the application of management principles to realistic situations managers encounter in pursuit of organizational objectives.
  • Deliver instruction in a hybrid format, ensuring high-quality course materials align with college standards.
  • Maintain engagement through the college's Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) for the online portion of the course.
  • Participate in professional activities and support student success through active engagement.
  • Monitor and document class attendance in compliance with college policies, maintaining accurate records and communicating with students and necessary departments as needed to support academic success.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Management or a related Business field from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Interpersonal communication skills; ability to write syllabi and exams
  • Ability to develop learning strategies, curriculum, and assessments
  • Ability to work with students of varying abilities from diverse backgrounds
  • Understanding of and commitment to the mission of the community college and student success

Additional Considerations:

  • Teaching experience at the college level, specifically with face-to-face and online/hybrid modalities.
  • Competency using instructional technologies such as SMART boards, Zoom and Canvas Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Experience working with community college students.
  • Demonstrated commitment to student engagement and academic success.
