Inspire.Teach.Lead.Join the Next Generation of Nursing Education.Southside Virginia Community College (SVCC) is seeking dedicated, professional registered nurses to join our clinical adjunct faculty pool.We are building a continuous pipeline of qualified applicants to support both our Traditional Nursing Program and our Weekend Nursing Program across our campuses and clinical sites in South Boston, Keysville, Alberta, and Chase City.Reports to Full-Time Faculty, Program Coordinator/Director, and the Dean of Nursing, Allied Health, and Natural Sciences.
A Clinical Adjunct Faculty member assumes primary responsibility for planning, teaching, and evaluating students within the clinical area, sharing in the total responsibility of providing quality instruction for our future nursing professionals.
Applications will be received, reviewed, and considered continuously until needed positions are filled.
Duties & Responsibilities include becoming familiar with the philosophy, objectives, and policies of the nursing program, attending student and faculty orientations to the clinical area, planning clinical rotation paths and selecting patient assignments, providing continuous on-site supervision and guidance, reviewing clinical objectives with students, conducting pre- and post-clinical conferences, serving as an active professional role model and resource person, reviewing, correcting, and commenting on written clinical assignments, evaluating and recording student progress, maintaining an optimal learning environment, and cooperative relationships with clinical agency personnel.
Special Assignments may include performing other duties as assigned and assisting the agency or state government in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's/Required Qualifications include a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) is required; a Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN) is highly preferred, at least two (2) years of clinical nursing experience, preferably in the clinical area of teaching responsibility, holding a current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the Commonwealth of Virginia (or multi-state privilege), and maintaining professional competence through ongoing nursing practice, continuing education, workshops, or academic courses.
