Representing the very best in healthcare, UT Health East Texas is comprised of 10 hospitals and more than 50 clinics across east Texas.  With nearly 7,500 employees and over 1,000 licensed in-patient beds, UT Health East Texas provides healthcare services to thousands of patients annually through our hospitals, clinics, Level 1 trauma facility, air emergency fleet and EMS service in a metropolitan service area of a quarter-million people.
Our Tyler hospital is seeking an experienced Clinical Review Tech/RN.  We are looking for your experience, knowledge and patient care skills in our Medical Staff Department where you will be responsible for:
What You Will Be Doing:
  1. Promotes optimal quality of services by assisting with the planning, organizing and implementation of performance improvement activities of UT Health East Texas.
  2. Reviews cases and coordinating the collection of data, analysis of results, preparing or reports and graphs related to Inpatient and Outpatient Core Measure data required by CMS, TJC & THCICA as well as other clinical reviews required to maintain accreditation by CMS and TJC.
  3. Reviews in and out patient cases reported, referred from all sources or based on various medical staff approved criteria and nurse clinical practice standards.
  4. Demonstrates ability to maintain accurate records of findings and actions of confidential Medical Staff peer review activities.
  5. Coordinates preparation of reports, records, and data bases as needed.
  6. Provides data for accurate development of graphs, charts and tables.
  7. Ensures computerized data remain secure and properly archived.
  8. Completes in-depth case reviews and provides information on peer review forms to include computerized trending.
  9. Written documentation will be well written and grammatically correct.
  10. Assists in preparing the monthly, bi-monthly, quarterly and annual reports as assigned.
  11. Coordinates aggregation of data from within and outside the department.
  12. Attends and participates on assigned hospital performance improvement committees, teams and medical staff meetings.
  13. Assists with quality control report document processing as assigned.
  14. Coordinates preparation of reports, records and data-bases as needed by the Quality Improvement Director.
  15. Provides 100% accurate interpretation of clinical cases to support data abstraction and for use in preparing tables, graphs and charts.

So what experience are we looking for in our Clinical Review Tech/RN?
  • Licensed registered Nurse (RN, BSN) required
  • Five years of hospital clinical experience, medical record and simple statistical process experience preferred
  • Project management skills by experience or lecture preferred
  • Current hands on knowledge of nursing clinical practices and standards used on general acute care, special care, intensive care and trauma units
  • Basic knowledge with the following software projects: Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Power Point
  • Considerable knowledge of business English, spelling and math
  • Considerable knowledge of grammatical structure and punctuation
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic or schedule form
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding patients, physicians, employee and organizations issues.
  • Ability to exercise judgement, courtesy and tact when receiving callers, in giving and obtaining information and in making proper disposition of problems
  • Completes in a timely manner other assigned duties
  • Demonstrates the ability to maintain a positive working relationship with department heads, peers, co-workers, hospital staff, medical staff, and other customers
  • Maintains assigned departmental records in a current and organized fashion
  • Must possess digital dexterity
  • Light physical effort (lift/carry up to 25 pounds)
  • Requires frequent sitting
