Data & Platform Engineer
LHH is partnering with a growing technology organization seeking a Data & Platform Engineer to help build and scale its cloud data platform. This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who enjoys owning systems from design through production, not an architecture-only position.
What You'll Do

• Design, build, and optimize PostgreSQL databases and BigQuery data environments.
• Develop production-quality solutions using Python and GCP.
• Build and maintain secure REST and/or GraphQL APIs.
• Own data reliability, performance, migrations, indexing, data quality, and cloud cost optimization.
• Build and support cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code.
• Troubleshoot production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement lasting solutions.
• Review code and provide technical guidance to distributed engineering teams.

What We're Looking For

• Approximately 3-7 years of relevant backend data/software engineering experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, BigQuery, GCP, Python, and data warehousing.
• Experience building and operating production cloud infrastructure, not simply consuming managed services.
• Experience designing production REST and/or GraphQL APIs.
• Ability to move between system design and hands-on development.
• Familiarity using AI-assisted development tools for coding, research, documentation, and debugging.
• Strong troubleshooting, communication, and technical mentoring skills.

Nice to Have

• Terraform and CI/CD experience.
• Multi-tenant platform or cloud security experience.
• Device telemetry, IoT, or hardware/software integration exposure.
• Go, dbt/Dataform, ClickHouse/Apache Pinot, or MLOps experience.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $110,000-$145,000 annually, with flexibility based on experience, plus bonus eligibility.
Schedule: Hybrid position in the Foothill Ranch, CA area, with regular onsite collaboration Monday through Thursday and remote work Friday.
