About the Role
Job title: SAP FICO Consultant Job type: contract position Location: on-site 3 days per week in Bridgewater, NJ
Our client is seeking an experienced Finance & Payroll Systems Consultant to support a major payroll transformation initiative. This individual will serve as the bridge between Finance, HR, and Payroll stakeholders, ensuring payroll-related financial processes are accurately designed, tested, and implemented within a complex enterprise environment.
The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in accounting and financial systems, coupled with hands-on experience supporting payroll integrations, financial controls, and system implementations. This role will play a critical part throughout design, testing, cutover, and post-go-live support activities.
Key Responsibilities
Partner with Finance, Payroll, and HR teams to gather, analyze, and translate business requirements into system and interface specifications.
Provide subject matter expertise on payroll accounting, general ledger structures, and financial reporting requirements.
Review and validate system designs to ensure compliance with accounting standards and organizational financial controls.
Support payroll-related integrations between HR, payroll, and finance platforms.
Identify, track, and resolve issues throughout design, configuration, testing, and deployment phases.
Develop and execute User Acceptance Testing (UAT), parallel testing, and validation activities to ensure data accuracy and process integrity.
Create and maintain comprehensive testing documentation and audit-ready records.
Support cutover planning, deployment activities, and post-implementation stabilization efforts.
Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to drive issue resolution and ensure successful project outcomes.
Required Qualifications
Experience supporting Finance, HR, Payroll, or ERP system implementations and enhancements.
Strong understanding of payroll accounting processes, including payroll taxes, deductions, accruals, and financial reconciliations.
Expertise working with general ledger structures and payroll-to-finance integrations.
Experience supporting month-end close activities, payroll accruals, and financial reporting processes.
Knowledge of payroll tax accounting, including withholding requirements and equity/stock-based compensation transactions.
Demonstrated experience executing system testing, validation, and defect resolution activities.
Strong analytical, documentation, and stakeholder communication skills.
