Job Summary
We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Inpatient Gastroenterology team in Shreveport, LA. This position works collaboratively with gastroenterologists and hospitalists to provide high-quality care for hospitalized patients with a variety of gastrointestinal conditions.
The APP will play an important role in supporting the inpatient GI service, particularly while physicians are performing procedures, by assisting with patient rounding, follow-up visits, and ongoing management of GI patients.
Key Responsibilities
Perform inpatient rounding and follow-up visits for GI patients
Evaluate and manage hospitalized patients with acute and chronic gastrointestinal conditions
Support the GI service while physicians are performing procedures
Work closely with gastroenterologists, hospitalists, nursing staff, and other members of the care team
Order and interpret laboratory studies, imaging, and other diagnostic testing
Assist with treatment planning and ongoing patient management
Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up care
Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the EMR
Qualifications
Current Louisiana license or eligibility for licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
National certification (AANP, ANCC, or NCCPA)
Previous Gastroenterology experience preferred
Previous inpatient or hospital-based experience preferred
Strong clinical judgment and ability to work collaboratively in a hospital environment
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Schedule & Compensation
Monday–Friday
7:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Full-time, inpatient position
