Payroll Tax Accountant
Pasadena, CA
Compensation: $40.00-$50.00 hourly
LHH is partnering with a well-established and growing organization to identify a Payroll Tax Accountant who will serve as a key resource for payroll tax compliance, reporting, and reconciliation activities in a multi-state environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a payroll tax professional who enjoys solving complex tax issues, ensuring compliance, and improving payroll processes. The ideal candidate will bring strong payroll tax expertise, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to navigate federal, state, and local tax regulations.
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage payroll tax compliance for a multi-state employee population
  • Prepare, reconcile, and review federal, state, and local payroll tax filings
  • Ensure timely and accurate payroll tax deposits and reporting
  • Research and resolve payroll tax notices, discrepancies, and agency inquiries
  • Perform payroll tax reconciliations on a pay-period, quarterly, and annual basis
  • Maintain payroll tax accounts, registrations, and jurisdiction records
  • Monitor changes in payroll tax laws and implement necessary updates
  • Partner with Payroll, HR, Accounting, and external tax agencies to address payroll tax matters
  • Support year-end payroll activities, including W-2 processing and reconciliation
  • Audit payroll tax data to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Assist with payroll tax projects, process improvements, and system enhancements
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for payroll tax regulations and best practices
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of payroll tax, payroll accounting, or payroll compliance experience
  • Strong working knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations
  • Experience with payroll tax filings, reconciliations, and notice resolution
  • Experience supporting multi-state payroll environments
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively
  • Experience with ADP, Workday, or similar payroll systems preferred
  • CPP certification is a plus
Pay Details: $40.00 to $50.00 per hour
