  • Salary/Pay Rate: $15.50 to $25.00 per hour
  • Location: Waco, Texas
  • Job/Employment Type: Full Time
  • Project Scope: Commercial, Industrial, Government, or Federal Traffic Control Services
  • Mandatory Licences & Certifications: None Required

The Opportunity

You will serve as a key line of defense for roadway crews and the traveling public by executing high-standard traffic control setups across Texas. This role gives you direct hands-on impact, offering paid training, certifications, and overtime potential with a trusted company that has led the industry for over 50 years. You will play a vital part in maintaining daily job site safety while advancing your career in utility and roadway infrastructure operations.

How You Will Make an Impact

  • Report to Dispatch to receive daily assignments, then attend the crew briefing, review the traffic control plan, and complete stretch-and-flex exercises.
  • Load signs, barricades, cones, drums, and other equipment specified in the work order; make sure each load is properly secured.
  • Set up lane closures, shoulder closures, detours, and other work zones according to the plan and applicable TxDOT and/or MUTCD standards.
  • Inspect the work zone after setup, make adjustments as needed, and monitor it throughout the job. Reset knocked-over devices and replace damaged equipment.
  • Flag traffic when required.
  • Safely remove work-zone devices in the correct order when the job is complete.
  • Report damaged, missing, or non-compliant equipment to Dispatch or the crew lead.
  • Communicate with Dispatch, job-site inspectors, and customers to confirm project status and completion.
  • Complete work orders accurately, obtain the required customer signature, and report back to Dispatch for additional assignments.
  • Fuel and clean work trucks as needed, and wear required PPE at all times on the job.
  • Locations we are hiring for : Dallas, Waco, and Austin, Texas.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Ability to perform heavy physical labor and lift up to 50 pounds frequently in outdoor environments.
  • Absolute willingness to work flexible schedules including early mornings, nights, weekends, and emergency callouts.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to follow strict safety protocols in high-noise zones.
  • Must be able to read and write
  • Dependable transportation

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in traffic control, roadway work, or commercial construction.
  • Valid Texas driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Active Flagger Certification or Work Zone / Traffic Control Technician (TCT) credentials.
  • Prior working knowledge of TxDOT and MUTCD traffic control standards.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
  • High school diploma or equivalent education/experience.

Potential Pathways to Growth:

  • T1 — Entry level: New crew members complete orientation, including flagger training and hands-on equipment instruction, then finish the remaining T1 training during their first 90 days.
  • T2 — Developing technician: Advancement follows completion and demonstration of the next level of traffic-control training.
  • T3 — Advanced technician: The proposed level calls for more advanced capabilities and training equivalent to TCT/TCS coursework. Official certification cards are being considered at the supervisor stage rather than as a requirement for every T3.
  • Driver qualifications (D1/D2): These sit alongside the technician tiers rather than replacing them; driver training and qualifications are tracked separately.
  • Lead and Field Supervisor: Experienced technicians may take on crew-lead responsibilities based on technical ability and leadership skills. Field Supervisor is the next management step. Lead qualifications and compensation are not yet fully settled.

Physical Requirements

  • Medium to heavy physical work. Must be able to lift up to 50+ pounds with assistance to move, transport, install, and remove objects.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb in and out of trucks repeatedly throughout the shift.
  • Visual acuity is constantly required to operate equipment and motor vehicles, watch for oncoming traffic, and make sure devices are placed accurately.
  • Constantly subject to outdoor weather conditions, including extreme Texas heat, cold, rain, and wind, with no effective protection.
  • Frequently subject to hazards including moving vehicles and high-speed traffic, moving mechanical parts, high heat, and uneven ground.
  • Frequently subject to noise at a level that may require the employee to shout in order to be heard.
  • Occasionally communicates with customers, inspectors, and employees in other departments. Must be able to exchange accurate information verbally and in writing.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Weekly pay cycle with competitive hourly rates and overtime potential.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance options.
