About the Opportunity LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented
Buyer for our client. This role is responsible for sourcing materials, managing supplier relationships, negotiating pricing, monitoring inventory levels, and ensuring products are delivered on time to support customer and operational needs.
The ideal candidate will have experience in purchasing, procurement, inventory management, or supply chain operations and thrive in a fast-paced industrial or distribution environment.
Key Responsibilities - Source and purchase materials, equipment, tools, parts, supplies, and services to meet business demands.
- Negotiate pricing, product quality, freight costs, and delivery terms with vendors.
- Analyze inventory levels and implement strategies to reduce excess, slow-moving, or obsolete stock.
- Ensure appropriate inventory levels are maintained to support customer and operational requirements.
- Prepare purchase orders, requests for quotations, and supplier bid evaluations.
- Review supplier proposals and negotiate contracts within established budgets and purchasing authority.
- Monitor supplier performance regarding pricing, quality, and delivery.
- Research and identify new suppliers, products, and sourcing opportunities.
- Build and maintain strong vendor relationships that support profitability and service goals.
- Expedite orders and follow up on open purchase orders to ensure timely delivery.
- Communicate delivery delays and offer alternative product solutions when needed.
- Resolve purchasing and accounts payable discrepancies.
- Assist sales teams with product pricing, availability inquiries, and customer quotations.
- Process customer returns and vendor credits.
- Evaluate freight expenses and shipping options when placing orders.
- Present new product opportunities and supplier recommendations to internal stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate procurement records and purchasing documentation.
- Ensure compliance with company purchasing policies and quality standards.
Qualifications - Bachelor's degree preferred or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Experience in purchasing, procurement, buying, inventory management, or supply chain operations.
- Knowledge of inventory control and replenishment practices.
- Understanding of freight, transportation, and logistics considerations.
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Customer-focused mindset with the ability to collaborate across departments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Highly detail-oriented with a strong sense of urgency and accountability.
