Summary
The Senior Commercial Banking Sales Manager is a dual-role position combining management and business production responsibilities, with a focus on both C&I and commercial real estate lending. The Sales Manager is accountable for leading and coaching a team of Commercial Relationship Managers and support staff while also personally generating new business and deepening existing client relationships. This role demands advanced credit, sales, and relationship management expertise to deliver comprehensive banking solutions to our commercial clients.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide dynamic leadership as both a manager and producer: oversee, mentor, and develop a high-performing commercial banking team while personally driving business generation and revenue growth.
- Direct and execute the sales process and strategic initiatives, balancing team management with active production responsibilities and a strong emphasis on sourcing new relationship opportunities.
- Manage and grow a portfolio of commercial clients by deepening relationships, acquiring new clients, and achieving portfolio and revenue targets through proactive origination efforts.
- Serve as a trusted financial advisor by fully understanding each client’s business and real estate objectives, financial position, and banking needs.
- Structure, recommend, and deliver tailored solutions—including complex credit arrangements, commercial real estate loans, deposits, and other banking products—leveraging internal resources and specialists as appropriate.
- Collaborate with Credit, Treasury Management, and specialty banking teams to deliver seamless, integrated service to clients.
- Advise on and oversee loan structuring, pricing, underwriting, closing documentation, and ongoing portfolio reviews, with specialized expertise in both C&I and commercial real estate transactions.
- Ensure excellence in production activities by actively prospecting, engaging community contacts, generating referrals, and representing First Horizon Bank in the marketplace.
- Monitor and manage client portfolios for changes in financial status, product needs, or risk, ensuring a strong focus on credit quality and compliance with all internal and regulatory policies.
- Act as a culture champion and mentor, modeling First Horizon’s values and promoting a collaborative, client-centric environment among associates.
- Support strategic planning and execution in partnership with Market President and Line of Business leaders.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience; minimum of 15 years of commercial banking experience
- Demonstrated success in managing teams and personally generating business, with significant expertise in credit, commercial real estate transactions, and portfolio management.
- Advanced sales, credit analysis, loan structuring, and portfolio management skills for both commercial and commercial real estate clients.
