Project/Cost Accountant
Brighton, MI | Direct Hire | $31-41/hr.
LHH Recruitment Solutions is supporting a client in Brighton, Michigan that is seeking a Project/Cost Accountant to join their growing team. The ideal candidate will have strong accounting experience with a focus on construction accounting, project costing, and job cost analysis. This position plays a key role in tracking project financial performance, maintaining accurate cost records, and supporting operational decision-making.
Responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain project accounting records for multiple construction projects
• Track project costs, budgets, commitments, and change orders
• Analyze job cost reports and investigate variances
• Prepare project-related financial reports and forecasts
• Reconcile project accounts and ensure accurate cost allocation
• Assist with month-end and year-end close activities
• Review invoices, purchase orders, subcontractor payments, and lien waivers
• Collaborate with project managers to ensure financial accuracy and budget compliance
• Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, and billing functions as needed
• Maintain compliance with company policies and accounting standards

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
• 3+ years of accounting experience, including construction accounting experience
• Strong understanding of job costing and project accounting principles
• Experience reviewing project budgets, contracts, and change orders
• Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
