  • Position: Project Manager / Estimator – Commercial Glazing & Glass
  • Salary/Pay Rate: $70,000 to $100,000 per year
  • Location: Bridgeview, IL (On-site; Chicagoland jobsite travel, no out-of-town travel)
  • Job Type: Full-Time
  • Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8-hour shifts
  • Project Scope: Commercial Glazing / Curtain Walls / Storefronts / Architectural Glass
  • Preferred Education: Bachelor's in Construction Management
  • Required Experience: 2+ years in commercial construction

The Opportunity:

SG Metal & Glass is looking for a motivated Project Manager / Estimator to join our team and help oversee commercial glazing projects from initial estimating and planning through execution and final closeout.

This is an opportunity to take an active role in coordinating projects, managing schedules and budgets, working with customers and subcontractors, and ensuring projects are delivered on time and within scope. You will work closely with our engineering, fabrication, production, and field teams while serving as a key point of contact throughout the project lifecycle.

We are builders first. Our project managers handle the documentation and tracking every job requires, and they also know how the work goes together. You'll be in our Bridgeview shop working through details with fabricators, and on the jobsite solving problems with our field crews. If you've built something with your hands and want to run the whole project, this role is for you.

We are looking for someone with construction experience, strong organizational skills, and the ability to read blueprints and coordinate multiple project details.

How You Will Make an Impact:

Project Management & Coordination

  • Manage and coordinate commercial glazing projects from estimate turnover at award through completion and final closeout.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for customers, general contractors, architects, engineers, and internal project teams.
  • Coordinate daily project activities with engineering, fabrication, production, assembly, and field installation teams, including manpower, install sequencing, and shop deliveries with union field foremen.
  • Develop, maintain, and track project schedules to ensure deadlines and milestones are met.
  • Monitor project progress, identify potential delays or challenges, and proactively implement solutions.
  • Participate in internal and external project meetings, communicate updates, and document important discussions and action items.

Project Documentation & Execution

  • Review contract documents, architectural drawings, specifications, and project scope to ensure all requirements are understood.
  • Coordinate in-house AutoCAD shop drawings, RFIs (Requests for Information), and submittals throughout the project.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including schedules, correspondence, meeting notes, and project logs.
  • Monitor project budgets and contract requirements; prepare the schedule of values and monthly pay applications.
  • Identify, document, and coordinate change orders resulting from scope changes or additional work.
  • Oversee project quality control and coordinate site safety reviews as needed.
  • Manage project closeout activities, including warranties, operation and maintenance manuals, and as-built drawings.

Building & Fabrication

  • Work directly with our shop team on fabrication sequencing, assembly details, and custom metal components.
  • Help develop and solve connection, anchor, and assembly details with engineering and the shop before they reach the field.
  • Walk jobsites regularly to verify field conditions, review installed work, and solve problems with foremen in real time.
  • Review shop drawings with a builder’s eye for constructability, not just compliance with the drawings.

Estimating & Procurement

  • Perform quantity takeoffs for curtain walls, storefronts, windows, and specialized glazing systems.
  • Prepare detailed estimates, bid proposals, and project budgets using architectural drawings and specifications.
  • Request and evaluate vendor and supplier pricing to support competitive and accurate project estimates.
  • Coordinate material purchasing and procurement to meet project specifications, budgets, and schedules.
  • Assist with tracking bid results and maintaining estimating records to improve future project pricing and accuracy.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • 2+ years of commercial construction experience. Residential-only experience will not be considered.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret architectural blueprints, construction drawings, and specifications.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, coordinate project activities, and meet deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Reliable transportation for commuting to Bridgeview, IL and visiting Chicagoland jobsites.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

  • BS in Construction Management or a related technical field.
  • 2 years of project management experience in commercial construction.
  • Experience managing large-scale subcontracting or construction projects.
  • Previous experience in commercial glazing, glass, curtain walls, storefronts, entrances, glass railings, architectural metals, or facade systems.
  • Hands-on experience in fabrication, metalwork, glazing, or a building trade.
  • Comfortable with shop equipment and reading fabrication details.
  • Familiarity with project scheduling, budgeting, material procurement, and change order management.
  • Experience with Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, Microsoft Project, AutoCAD, or similar construction software.
  • OSHA 30 certification.
  • Knowledge of RFIs, submittals, construction contracts, and project closeout procedures.
  • Experience working with general contractors, subcontractors, and field installation teams.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive annual salary of $70,000 to $100,000, based on experience.
  • Weekly pay cycle.
  • Comprehensive health coverage, including medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • 401(k) retirement savings program.
  • Paid time off, including holidays, vacation, and sick leave.
  • Annual performance-based bonus opportunities.
  • Company-provided technology package, including a smartphone or tablet.
  • Opportunities for professional development, mentorship, and career advancement.
